Poems by Murray Poets and Poems About Murray County by Emma J. Best Now it's Sunday night And the waiting has been so hard, Just watching for my children My eyes have grown so tired. I guess they are thinking I could visit them instead, Oh how I wish I could But their dad is sick in bed. I wonder if they know How many steps it took you see, Of mom going to them They were too small to come to me. I know they have their family And it takes a lot of time, So they just write a letter But my tears wash out the lines. Some day they will arrive At dad and mother's home, But it will be so empty They will find themself alone. Our waiting will be over The children will be free, They won't have to take time out To visit dad and me. I'm sure that up in heaven Just inside the pearly gate, Is a place for dad and me Where we won't have to wait. Murray County Poetry |
